Breeding
Breeding pedigree Labradors
Our Breeding program
In the CorcaniSoul kennel, we have a passion for breeding Labradors with exceptional character, intelligence, health, and a strong work ethic. We are dedicated to breeding Labradors that not only meet breed standards but also demonstrate excellent working qualities. Our goal is to send out dogs into the world that embody the original breed characteristics in accordance with the standard – calmness, decency in retrieving, a desire to please the handler, the ability to search and a good nose, stable character, soft bite, and adaptability. Of course, we also adhere to standards in terms of external appearance.
Our vision
The well-being of the dog and the future owner is our top priority.
Registration with the FCI (Fédération Cynologique Internationale) and the Kennel Club of Slovenia:
At CorcaniSoul, we take pride in maintaining high standards in Labrador breeding. Our commitment to excellence is reflected in our registration with the FCI (Fédération Cynologique Internationale) and the Kennel Club of Slovenia. This registration allows us to adhere to the highest breed standards and ensures that we undergo all necessary required examinations, including the health assessments of our Labradors.
Regular collaboration with veterinarians:
Our commitment to the health of our Labradors is demonstrated through regular collaboration with experienced veterinarians. These experts conduct routine check-ups, vaccinations, and provide care that ensures the optimal health and well-being of our dogs.
High-Quality Nutrition and Physical Exercise:
For the overall health of our dogs, we also ensure proper and high-quality nutrition, which includes both commercially purchased and homemade components. We engage in regular activities, provide quality rest, and encourage regeneration. We actively involve our dogs in various areas to promote both their physical and mental development.
Departure to a New Home:
Upon departure to their new homes, the puppies are vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed. Upon adoption, you will receive an EU pet passport, a pedigree, and an initial food package. Throughout the entire life of your new family member, we provide support regarding dog upbringing and care. We encourage you to stay in touch, and we will be delighted to have reunions.
Working Line:
The ancestors of our Labradors originate from the so-called working or "Field Trial" line.
Although official canine standards do not distinguish between working and show lines, throughout history, a distinction has nevertheless developed between these two lines in the world of Labrador breeding.
We are convinced that preserving the versatile nature of the breed contributes to the health, success, and tradition of Labradors.
In the pedigrees of the working line, ancestors have proven themselves in working trials, showing enthusiasm and consistency in their work. In pedigrees of the show line, ancestors have excelled in dog shows.
Genetic testing
We conduct genetic testing to reduce the risk of hereditary diseases common in Labradors, such as hip and elbow dysplasia, progressive retinal atrophy (PRA), exercise-induced collapse (EIC), and the required D-locus genetic test. While these tests cannot completely eliminate the possibility of these diseases, they significantly reduce the likelihood of hereditary health issues compared to breeding without testing. Through this responsible approach, we strive to ensure the best possible health for our dogs, providing a healthy start and a long life for your new family member. However, it is important to understand that no method can guarantee perfect health.
Caring for Well-being:
Our puppies leave for their new homes at eight weeks of age, and during this time, we actively engage in ensuring proper socialization and exposing them to minimal stressors. This is to help them grow into resilient, stable, and patient adult dogs. We are aware of the importance of early socialization and development, so nothing is left to chance in this regard.
Additionally, our puppies are accustomed to children since they live as family members with us in the house. As we are located near the forest, they also become intensively accustomed to the outdoors and other dogs, as we have several dogs in our community. This diversity and exposure to various situations build a solid foundation for proper socialization and the successful development of your future family member.
